This August (2013) I will have been in the search business 37 years (and for the record with the same company), and through those years there have been many changes in the industry. No matter how many things change there are still may constants.
The search industry is still all about relationships with both candidates and employers, finding talent, evaluating talent, and getting 2 parties to talk (the interview). Employers need to ask themselves what am I getting for the fees recruiters charge. If it is merely “Monster diving”, quick short interviews of possible candidates, and sending resumes then we do over charge. It is important for everyone to get back to the basics of what we as an industry are to provide our customers (the employers who pay us).
